Electrical Aide

The course was developed to teach employees the basics of electricity and to enable them to do simple fault finding, installations and maintenance, mainly on lighting circuits.

The course includes the following modules:

Theory

  • Magnetism
  • Measuring instruments
  • Transformers
  • Earth leakage units

  • Cables and conductors
  • Contactors
  • Single-phase motors
  • Three-phase motors

Practical

  • Use of measuring instruments
  • Resistance boxes
  • Wiring a panel
  • Light switching
  • Light circuits

  • Stove swithing
  • Energy meters
  • Electrical installations (Conduit, trunking, etc.)
  • Testing an installation

  • Fitting a plug top, flexible cable, a gland and joining a cable
  • Connecting a single-phase motor to a plug
  • Direct-on-line starters
  • Hand tools
  • Fault finding
